The step into the family firms was almost inevitable for Chris Gugelman who had been working in foundries since a very young age. He is now adding his stamp to ensure the future sustainability of the business working alongside the art community.
Chris Gugelman is carrying on the family business with Madd Castings in Berthoud. The foundry was established in 1998 by his mother and sister and run by father, Robert "Moose," but Gugelman had been in the casting business long before that. "I've been pouring wax since I was 11 years old," Gugelman said about when he worked for his aunt, Loveland artist Jane DeDecker. Madd Castings opened when he was a senior in high school, and Gugelman had already started working in local foundries.
